Chinese Food/中餐

酱牛肉春饼 at a restaurant named Mu Ji.

I love to eat Chinese food.   A dish that I had in Taiwan is 酱牛肉春饼 (jiàng niúròu chūn bǐng)(Traditional:  醬牛肉春餅).   It reminds me of a burrito filled with very delicious and tender beef.   I’ve had it in the States, but I liked it more when I ate it in Taipei.   The photo on the left is from a restaurant named 穆記 Mù Jì, located across the street from Taipei University Medical Hospital.  If you have a chance to go to 穆記 you won’t regret it!

Tell me about a Chinese dish that you enjoy eating.

To me, the most delicious Chinese food is from my hometown in an inland province of mainland China. Almost all the dishes cooked with 白辣椒 are just soooo tasty and the thought of them makes my mouth water.

Have you heard of 白辣椒? It’s is made of hot green pepper but looks white after processing. Yammy, yammy!

Ah, besides my strange chocolates dependent on occasions (yes, for example, my Middle Eastern chocolate has cardamon, which has a melancholy taste! Or the Meyer’s Lemon with Toasted Almonds is definitely a bright cheerful affect.), I have to say that Chinese food in general is very happy tasting! Just the smell of the dishes can draw me into a restaurant, or drive me away!

I like the ti leaf wrapped rices – just the smell of the ti leaves evokes childhood memories of Beijing opera in the streetside stages, the old apothecary shop, candy shop, and the noisy crowded markets in Taipei! Running around bare-footed, catching dragonflies, hiding under the house among the posts, being rescued when the town flooded…

Hmmmm, …!

@Martinloong,
We have a saying in English, “the more, the merrier”. That’s what I appreciate about Chinese cuisine, it has much variety. I especially like spicy foods, so Hunan and Sichuan are something I enjoy

And , yes, the beauty about Yum Cha culture is that,”the more, the merrier”!!!

kurt September 22, 2010 at 1:08 am

Hello every buddy ! i am a tibetan boy called Gwa Jur Dor jee!

landawei September 22, 2010 at 11:05 am

@xrigher,
I learned 中菜 to mean “Chinese food” or “Chinese cuisine”.
So, that’s why I use it.
Does that answer your question? Hope that helps.

Welcome Kurt! Tibet is a place I would like to visit sometime.

Why not use 中式(chinese)料理(cuisine) instead?
It can be used interchangeably with other types of cuisine.

Do you know pastry?which is made from flour,sugar,oil,eggs etc.and the process is quite simple,you can learn it from this website:http://user.qzone.qq.com/714710925/infocenter.
I hope you can have a delicious breakfast in the future.

@Kara,
Welcome to “My China Connection”!
I tried to access the link you provided, but QQ asks some sort of “master question” and I don’t know how
to get past it.

Would you mind sharing the recipe here? You can cut-and-paste it. It doesn’t matter if it is in Chinese,
I can get it translated one way or the other.
