The ninth anniversary of the terrorist attacks, part 1

by landawei on September 11, 2010

This infamous day changed America.

I thought I take some time to write about my remembrances of a day that changed America.  What we call 9-11.  The terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington D.C.

Before I went to work, a friend called on the telephone, saying that New York and Washington D.C. had been attacked by terrorists.  So I turned on the TV.

I was appalled and dismayed.   This had never happened before.

One of the World Trade Center buildings was on fire because it was hit by an airliner.   The  Pentagon was hit.    Wait!   Another plane struck the World Trade Center.   Both would collapse.

There were the stories of people jumping to their deaths rather than stay in a fiery  inferno and be burnt to a crisp.  Talk about the lesser of two evils.

I went to work, but I felt as if someone had kicked me in the stomach.   I felt that way for several days.

The stock markets were in a state of panic.    But so was I.   When I viewed a highway overpass, I would think: “that would be a good place for a terrorist to put explosives to set off during rush hour.”  I was paranoid.

That was their goal, to make us paranoid.  When would they strike next?
